| In the early 80’s OMC partnered with Bertram to install their outboard Sea Drive engines on about a dozen 28s. The engines were mounted directly on the transom. This Bertram 28 was one of those boats. Most importantly, the transom on these boats was beefed up to handle the direct mount application. The most recent retrofit was commissioned by a very knowledgable owner. The work was done by Embree Marine, a first class yard, here in St. Petersburg. There was attention paid to prop selection for maximum power band efficiency resulting in an impressive hull shot with no cavitation or porpoise…all accomplished with no tabs applied and engines in a neutral trim. The top speed of 47 MPH was verified with no engine or tab trim. You will be impressed with the ride and balance. All yard records will be available to a serious buyer. |
